Dunellen Recreation Spring Open Soccer is back this spring!The Spring Open Soccer program offers one practice per week and is run by volunteer staff. Practices will include skills development, drills and some informal game playing. There are no teams. There is no game schedule. This is a low commitment activity. Open to Dunellen Residents only. Adult Yoga with Dana Downing | Spring 2024Dunellen Recreation is offering a beginner Hatha yoga class for adults with instructor Dana Downing at the Dunellen Senior Center. This class is open to students of all fitness levels. Dana’s hopes for her students are to help them destress and relax through guided movement, postures and breathing exercises. Dana has been a certified yoga instructor since 2015 and has been teaching yoga in North Plainfield and Dunellen ever since. Class size is limited so register early! Registration deadline is 3/31. Fee will not be pro-rated for missed classes.DatesMondays 7-8 PM from 4/8-6/10No class on 5/27LocationDunellen Senior Center, Columbia Park, DunellenRegistration Fee$90 for the 9 class sessionClass is free for Dunellen residents 62 years or older. MATCH! Dunellen Recreation is once again offering Spring Youth Tennis for children in grades 3-8. Players develop tennis skills such as hand eye coordination, strokes, serves, speed and agility and more with fun games and drills. SPRING TRACK WITH COACH ZAK for grades 3-8Athletes will participate in numerous events such as sprinting, jumping, throwing and hurdling. Each practice will include a proper warm-up ranging from jogging, dynamic flexibility and technical training, followed by event specific drills to increase their coordination, agility, speed and endurance through a fun team oriented environment. More About Coach ZakCoach Zak attended The College of New Jersey and Auburn University. He ran collegiate Track and Field for four years. His coaching philosophy focuses on proper technique. Over the past four years, he coached numerous athletes to be all country/county conference as well as sectional/group/state/nationals qualifiers. Grab a partner and enjoy a fun filled day of doubles tennis on Sunday, June 2! The Doubles Tennis Tournament begins at 9 AM at the tennis courts in Columbia Park, Orange Street, Dunellen. The entry fee is $20 per team; $10 per team for high school students. Pre-registration is required (only one member of the doubles team needs to register). Proceeds from the event will support youth tennis programs in Dunellen. The winning team will win a prize Tournament is open to high school students and adults. What more could a kid ask for? Space is limited. Register early. Registration DeadlineRegistration is required at least 7 business days prior to your preferred day or week of camp, space permitting. For trips, registration is required at least 14 days in advance. Dunellen Recreation needs time to arrange for proper staffing and to plan for activities. For larger field trips, such as to a Somerset Patriots game, the travel and admission expenses are included with your registration fee; during these trips, campers are responsible for the cost extras such as food/lunch.Camp StaffCamp Leader Kelly Seader has been a part of Dunellen Recreation's Summer Camp since 2005 and she's led the popular camp for the past 9 summers. She has great experience with children. She holds certifications in CPR, First Aid, concussions in sports and heat illness prevention. She is a coach for Dunellen High School's Boys Varsity Tennis Team in addition to being a coach for Recreation's Youth Tennis and Youth Basketball programs.Other staff members attended the summer camp as children, trained as volunteers and now have earned roles as Camp Counselors.Activities | The 2024 Rec Summer Camp is going to be the best summer yet. Look at all we have planned!Possible field trips: Runaway Rapids Waterpark, Patriots Stadium ball game, Yestercades Arcade, movies and pizza Fridays, ice cream days and possibly even bowling!Theme days: Karaoke, talent show - Dunellen Rec's Got Talent, lip sync contests, Camp Olympics, field day, spirit days, town wide scavenger hunts, science days, dance glow party, Christmas in July, ice cream days, 4th of July BBQ, bagel days and picnics and moreRefund PolicyA full refund minus a $20 administrative fee will be issued if written notice of camper's withdrawal is provided at least 7 days before June 17. Flexible - sign up by the week or by the day! Exactly what summer camp should be.For over 50 years, Dunellen Recreation has been offering one of the best summer camps around with the right mix for a perfect summer day - playtime on the playground, organized games, science fun, picnics, water play, walking trips to the ice cream shop, scavenger hunts, movie days and field trips. What more could a kid ask for? Space is limited. Register early. Registration DeadlineRegistration is required at least 7 business days prior to your preferred day or week of camp, space permitting. For trips, registration is required at least 14 days in advance. Dunellen Recreation needs time to arrange for proper staffing and to plan for activities.
